# Publishing

> Sending Ready listings to eBay from the Publish tab, and what to do when one fails

Publish is the queue of built listings. Each one goes to your eBay account when you tap it, or all at once. Listings publish one at a time, in order.

## The queue

Older live listings are under **Published** at the foot of the queue. See [Published cards](/docs/selling/published-cards).

A listing priced at 200 US dollars or more shows an **Authenticity Guarantee** badge. eBay decides whether the guarantee applies. The badge is only a reminder.

## Publishing

    **Publish all** sends every Ready listing. Its label counts them. **Publish now** on a row sends just that one.

  <Step title="Finish setup, the first time">
    If eBay is not linked, or your shipping and returns policies are not chosen, the setup sheet opens first. The bar reads **Finish setup to publish…** until you save. **Not now** cancels the publish and nothing is sent. See [Linking eBay](/docs/setup/linking-ebay).

  <Step title="Wait for the batch">
    The bar reads **Publishing 3 of 12…** as it goes. You can switch tabs while it runs. Each listing moves to **Live today** or **Didn't publish** as eBay answers. When the batch finishes the phone taps once: a success tap if every listing went live, an error tap if any did not.

**Keep the app open until the batch finishes.** DexFlip does not publish in the background. A listing cut off by the app closing shows under **Didn't publish** on the next launch, with **Retry**.

## When a listing does not publish

The row turns red and reads **Didn't publish.** followed by the reason.

| eBay isn't answering right now                              | Tap **Retry** in a moment                                                              |
| eBay answered in a way DexFlip couldn't read                | Tap **Retry**. If it repeats, [report it](/docs/support)                                    |
| Sign in to eBay again in Settings                           | Link eBay again in **Settings**, then tap **Retry**                                    |
| Finish your selling preferences in Settings                 | Save your [selling preferences](/docs/setup/selling-preferences), then tap **Retry**        |
| Auctions need one more eBay setting                         | Open **Settings**, save your selling preferences again, then **Retry**                 |
| eBay refused the listing                                    | Read eBay's words after the colon. Tap the row to fix the listing, then **Retry**      |
| eBay refused a photo                                        | Read eBay's words after the colon. For a lot, choose a different cover, then **Retry** |
| eBay listed it, but DexFlip couldn't record that            | Tap **Retry**. It syncs without listing twice                                          |
| This listing is already live on eBay in its original format | End the listing on eBay first. A live listing's format cannot change                   |

**Every failed row has Retry, whatever the reason.** Fix the cause first or it fails the same way. **Retry never creates a second listing.** It picks up the same eBay offer the first attempt made.

To change a listing that did not publish, tap the row. It opens over Publish. **Un-build** it to change the condition or the price, then build it again.

## Listing detail

Tap a live listing to open **Listing**, read from eBay as it is now.

**View on eBay** opens the listing in your browser.

## Notes

* A published listing cannot be edited, ended or relisted in DexFlip. Do that on eBay.
* The account you publish to is shown at the top of Publish. Change it in [Settings](/docs/setup/settings).
