# Selling preferences

> The shipping and returns policies, ship-from ZIP code and default price every listing uses

Selling preferences apply to every listing you publish from now on. A card already priced in Compose keeps its price, and so does every built listing. Set them from the setup sheet on your first publish, or from **Settings > Selling preferences**. Both need a linked eBay account.

## Settings

| Setting | Default | Values |
| --------------- | ------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Default price | 100% | 50% to 100%, in whole percents |
| Ships from | Not set | A 5-digit US ZIP code, or ZIP+4 |
| Shipping policy | Not set | A shipping policy on your eBay account |
| Returns policy | Not set | A returns policy on your eBay account |

**Save** stays off until all three of Ships from, Shipping policy and Returns policy are set. From Publish the button reads **Save & publish**, and the publish carries on after it.

## Default price

The slider's starting point on every new card. Settings shows it as, for example, **90% of market**. It applies to the card's price in its chosen condition, so a Very good card at 90% asks 90% of its Very good price. 100% asks that price in full. See [Pricing a card](/docs/selling/pricing-a-card#how-the-price-is-worked-out).

The slider stops at 50%. To ask less, or more than market, use **Override price** on the card.

## Ships from

The ZIP code eBay shows as the item location. Spaces around it are trimmed. Anything else that is not five digits, or five digits, a hyphen and four, shows **Enter a 5-digit US ZIP code**.

## Shipping policy

The list shows the shipping policies on your eBay account. With one policy it is chosen for you. With none, tap **Create a standard policy**.

| Standard shipping policy | Value |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------- |
| Name | DexFlip standard shipping |
| Service | USPS Ground Advantage |
| Cost | Flat rate, buyer pays 4.99 US dollars |
| Handling time | 1 day |

To use a different policy, create it on eBay. It appears in the list the next time you open this screen.

## Returns policy

Same as shipping.

| Standard returns policy | Value |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------ |
| Name | DexFlip standard returns |
| Returns | Accepted within 30 days |
| Return shipping | Buyer pays |
| Refund | Money back |

## What the app changes on eBay

<Info>
Opening this screen turns on eBay's business policies for your account if they are not on already. The app needs them to list.
</Info>

| When | What the app does on your eBay account |
| ----------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Opening the screen | Turns on business policies, if needed |
| Create a standard policy | Creates the standard shipping or returns policy above. If one by that name exists, it is reused |
| Save | Uses your first payment policy, or creates **DexFlip payments** if you have none |
| Save | Finds or creates **DexFlip auction payments**, which auctions need |
| First publish from a ZIP code | Creates an inventory location named **DexFlip** at that ZIP code |

Nothing the app creates on eBay is ever deleted by the app. Remove it on eBay if you no longer want it.

## Notes

* **Save your preferences again if auctions fail** with **Auctions need one more eBay setting**. Saving creates the auction payment policy.
* The payment policy is chosen for you and is not shown in Settings.
* Unlinking eBay, or linking a different account, clears the chosen policies. The ZIP code and default price stay.
* If saving fails, the sheet says **Couldn't save your preferences. Nothing changed. Try again.** Your previous preferences stay in force.
